MPY351Electronics Lab

MPY351 Electronics Lab is the practical companion of MPY303 Electronic Devices, giving M.Sc. Physics (Electronics) students direct experience with the semiconductor devices and oscillator/timer circuits that underpin analog electronics. Experiments progress from characterizing individual devices (diode, BJT, FET, MOSFET, phototransistor) to designing complete functional circuits (oscillators, clippers/clampers, multivibrators, 555 timer applications) on a breadboard.

  • Minimum requirement: at least 8 of the 12 listed experiments must be performed and recorded.
  • Assessment: Internal 50 marks, End Semester Examination 100 marks, Credits: 6 (9 lab hours/week).
  • Skills developed: use of CRO/DSO, function generators, regulated power supplies and multimeters; breadboard circuit construction; systematic recording of characteristic curves and derivation of device parameters.
